Report from the 12th Round Dance Festival
Held on 2nd-4th April, 2010
A Report from someone who attended:
"The 12th SA Round Dace Festival “Masquerade in Adelaide” held in April, 2010, was a spectacular success. The medley and levels of dances were enjoyable with entertainment from Paula and Warwick and Jennifer and Alex being fabulously performed and appreciated by all. The venue had an exceptional ballroom floor, the food was delicious and the layout inviting and welcoming.
The festival revolves around locally choreographed showcases i.e. music that is choreographed by local talent then demonstrated and voted on. First, second and third place then go on to the SA festival dance list and some may well be nominated for the National list. This year all seven dances were exceptional and with phase 4 being the average, it was quite difficult to make a decision.
The unexpected momentous significance of the festival was the award received humbly by our Queensland cuers Paula and Warwick Armstrong. The trophy, which spent the last two years proudly in New Zealand with Jennifer and Alex Kennedy, is now back in OZ. I encourage all who haven’t yet experienced the adrenaline of a major dance event to have a go and enjoy."

A Report from Maria Jones:
SARDA President
SA Round Dance Assoc. Ltd.:

This year was the 12th South Australian Round Dance Festival that began 24 yrs ago. This festival is held bi-annually and the original committee organised this festival to encourage cuers and dancers to submit their own choreographed dance to be showcased and voted on by the attending dancers. All showcase dances are sent for publication and the first three winners are added to our Festival list. This list with the State and National lists is used to make up our current Festival weekend program arranged by our program committee.
Our festival has brought out many memorable dances that we still dance in our clubs. Beginning from 1988 our showcase winners have been:

La Bomba (Peter & Bronwyn Heath SA),
Luck Lips (Thelma & Tom McCue SA),
Some People (Ray & Pam Deamer VIC),
Hand Over Your Heart (Ian & Karen Charlesworth SA),
Hot June Night (Ray & Pam Deamer VIC),
Should I Do It (Max Bassett & Maria Jones SA),
Stepping Out (Ray & Pam Deamer VIC),
Shades of Tango (Max Bassett & Jean Woolfender SA),
No Matter What (Beryl & Mike Harcourt VIC) & Waltz to Sorrento (Thelma & Tom McCue SA) both winners in 2004
Love me Forever (Paula & Warwick Armstrong QLD) and our last 2008 festival winner,

As you can see our winners represent a number of Australian states as well as overseas New Zealand.
Below are the cuers who attended the festival and assisted in making it the success it was.
